One of the typical cultural identities of Vietnamese you should know is that they like to ask you many personal questions. "Are you married?" "Do you have girlfriend/ boyfriend?", "When will you get married?", "How much is your salary?", bla bla bla... You can be not very pleased to answer about your marriage, but it is quite acceptable. Answering questions about marriage can be a chance for you to find someone if you are single. If you are not single, it is a way to say that you don't want to find someone else.
What if they ask "How much do you earn each month?" ????? So wierd! Some people ask that question directly at the very first meeting. They eventually try to ask if you avoid to answer your salary.
Well, actually, they don't want to steal your job or compete with you. They ask because they just want to know. They're curious. Just that! There is no more other purpose.
Most people say reply "Sorry, it's a private issue, so I cannot answer you". "Sorry, Can I skip this question because it's too personal?", bla bla.... Did you notice that Vietnamese people were not very happy with your answer? Do you want them to think that you are unfriendly person by that answer?
I would choose to say a certain number which is lower than my true income. Be polite! Why don't you tell them your salary while they want to know? BUT KEEP IN MIND that you have to give them a number which is lower than your true salary. After that, if they say your salary is too low, keep smiling because your true salary is much higher. If they open their eyes surprisingly and say "That's my desired salary", say "YEAH" in your mind because your true salalry is higher than the number they dream of.
Hope my tip be helpful for you guys.
